Laws, regulations and policies

As a supplier of quality blood and other biological products of human origin to Québec hospitals, Héma-Québec is governed by a legal framework that is commensurate with the importance of its mission. This framework is based primarily on the organization's incorporating act, the Act respecting Héma-Québec and the Biovigilance Committee, as well as on a number of regulations and policies that govern all of its activities.

Charter of the French Language

In accordance with section 20.1 of the Charter of the French Language, Héma-Québec must publish the number of positions accessible through recruitment, hiring, transfer or promotion for which knowledge of a language other than French is required or desirable.

  • As at March 31, 2024, Héma-Québec had 582 positions for which knowledge or proficiency in a language other than French was required or desirable.


Equal Access to Employment

Héma-Québec's equal access program complies with Quebec’s Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms and was implemented in keeping with the Act respecting equal access to employment in public bodies. This law requires public bodies to determine if individuals in the target groups are represented sufficiently among their employees and to implement an equal access employment program in order to increase their representation and ensure that rules and practices do not compromise the right to equality.
