Who can donate stem cells?
Your safety and the safety of stem cell recipients are a top priority for Héma-Québec. That’s why our donors must meet strict eligibility criteria before joining the Stem Cell Donor Registry. Consulth them to evaluate your eligibility.
Be between 18 and 35 years old
The younger the donor, the better the chances of a successful transplant. Once you’ve joined the registry, you can donate up to the age of 60.
Be in good health
Your health and the health of the recipient are a top priority for us. Tests will be performed after you sign up.
Be willing to donate stem cells to anyone who needs them
By joining the Registry, you could be the only person able to save the life of someone seriously ill.

Héma-Québec’s Stem Cell Donor Registry is a registry of everyone in Québec who wants to donate stem cells and meets the eligibility criteria below. Our potential donors’ genetic profiles are stored in a digital database that is connected to the World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA), an organization that brings together millions of potential stem cell donors around the world.
