Level 2
Objective
The fundamentals of serological investigation of warm autoantibody hemolytic anemias are reviewed. The physiopathology of this type of anemia and the transfusion modalities are discussed. The different laboratory techniques used in the resolution of this type of case as well as the manufacturers' inserts are presented. In addition, a few cases are presented to observe the possible particularities according to the laboratory results obtained. The function of antibodies in the humoral immune system response as well as the process of complement activation and its role in immune defense are presented. The genotyping results and interpretation of the serological reports are reviewed.
