Who can donate human tissue?

Human tissues can be donated up to the age of 85. Nearly 50% of deceased persons qualify as human tissue donors. In all cases, a medical examination is performed to validate the eligibility of potential donors. Depending on their age, the following human tissues may be collected:

Heart valves

Collected from birth to age 60

Cutaneous tissues and musculoskeletal tissues

Collected from ages 15 to 75

Eye tissues

Collected from ages 2 to 86
